“Warna Warni Cinta Selly Fajarini”, the first NFT donation in Bali
This may be the first social action in Bali to use NFT (Non-Fungible Token). This social action was initiated by Selly Fajarini, a former Chairman of the Denpasar City PKK Mobilization Team. Selly wrote and published a book titled “Colorful Love Selly Fajarini.” The book is printed limited, and each unit is registered on the blockchain network as a non-fungible token asset (NFT) through Baliola.com. The total production of books in physical form is 100 copies, but only half of the public is distributed.
“So only 50 NFT plus a physical book that we published at the launch because the other 50 had been brought up by someone who did not want to be named,” Selly said.
Outside of physical books, there are 200 more NFTs in the form of digital assets. So the total NFT published related to the book is 300 NFT.
To the friends and relations, Selly was invited to register into the Whitelist as the buyer of the book NFT which was priced at Rp500 thousand or 34 Kepeng (KPG). Later, of all the names listed, randomly selected 50 names that will get NFT plus physical books. The rest only get digital assets.
“After being deducted by production costs, all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Empowered House, Denpasar,” Selly added.
The idea of publishing books with this NFT mechanism has responded to the development of the NFT world, which has been rife in recent years. Like it or not, technology will spread to all levels of society. Taking the momentum of love (Valentine’s day) and Kartini Day, Selly Fajarini sparked the raising of social funds in a new way. In collaboration with Baliola.com, Selly admired the NFT donation for humanity by publishing “Warna Warni Cinta Selly Fajarini,” which contains various expressions of love for her husband, family, and friends, elderly, fashion, and adventure.
As an award to the first 50 donors who recorded themselves in the Whitelist, Selly invited them to be friendly at the event titled ‘One book, one kindness’ in Denpasar on May 21, 2022.
At that event, they will be invited to talk casually about the book’s contents, exciting things related to the book’s contents, and education about NFT and noble programs that can be done with NFT.
According to Selly, the donors were invited to feel a new experience in donating through this donation action while looting a donation pioneer through NFT.
“As far as I know, this is the first donation in Bali carried out with NFT. So the donors in this project are historical makers. They are the first people in Bali who donated with NFT, “Selly said.
Selly added that those who have not been fortunate to enter the whitelist to get physical books and NFT will still get digital books whose procedures are presented on web pages, and Instagram accounts explicitly prepared for it.
A Donation as Well as Education
Regarding the NFT donation action carried out by Selly Fajarini, Director of Baliola.com, IGP Rahman Desyanta said his party was pleased. According to him, the donation action for humanity through NFT conducted by Selly Fajarini has several essential values in developing NFT and Blockchain in Indonesia. First, this movement educates the public that NFT has other dimensions outside as a new method for buying and selling digital works. Selly shows that NFT also has a social size through its NFT donation action.
Second, through this movement, the community has a new insight that by donating through NFT, they can help others, protect the environment, build cities, and get token assets that will later be resold for various purposes.
“So the NFT donation action carried out by Selly’s mother is a historic breakthrough for developing NFT and Blockchain Indonesia in the future,” said Rahman.
One Book, One Kindness
Furthermore, Selly said that the donation movement titled ‘One Book, One Kindness,’ which she had gone with Baliola.com did not stop with just one edition but continued as an NFT donation movement whose results would be distributed to social foundations in various fields.
For example, in this inaugural edition, all proceeds from the sale of books will be distributed to the Denpasar Employment House, a rehabilitation house for people who experience mental health problems. So that rehabilitation activities for patients with mental health problems become more empowered. Furthermore, similar movements will be carried out in other social activities.
About NFT
Non-Fungible Token itself has existed since 2014. But now, it is increasingly widespread because it is considered a pretty practical method for buying and selling art in digital form. Non-Fungible Token (NFT) has a unique code that will appear while making a transaction. Usually, non-fungible tokens also contain innate authentication that functions as proof of ownership of these assets.
Fungible phrases basically mean something (assets) that can be exchanged. For example, if you have 50,000 bills, you can trade them for five 10,000 accounts, which remain the same value. However, if the asset cannot be exchanged, it has a unique nature, so it cannot be exchanged with others.
Similar to cryptocurrency, NFT also uses blockchain technology. The use of blockchain technology allows someone to track the unique code from NFT. We can find out who the initial publisher is, the first buyer, and or the latest owner of the digital asset. Note that NFT technology cannot prevent someone from having a copy of NFT digital assets. But the difference lies in the unique code that will be valid proof of ownership.
